UFO’s And Jealous Spouses Need Not Apply!

How frustrating would it be if you were headed to work, bright and early… and suddenly have your car zapped by a UFO and the damage to the vehicle from the laser beam is unbearable?? HIGHLY FRUSTRATING! Unfortunately, this may be something that isn’t covered under your insurance policy.

Have another scenario:

You go over to Grammies house as she does not have a vehicle.  Thinking nothing of it, you make yourself comfortable on the couch watching the Price is Right while scanning through Facebook on the computer, and Grammy decides she needs to make you a pre-lunch snack.  She says, “Dear, let me go to the market and pick up a few things….you relax and I’ll be right back”.  Trusting Grammy, you watch her as she heads off in your VW Beetle.  Then you get the call…Grammy is FINE, but Grammy was blind.  This is another instance of where you MIGHT not be covered.

Although the ideas are slightly stretched, there are reasons behind them.  As Latest UFO Sighting states, “Most car insurance firms will not pay out if your car is damaged by pressure waves from aircraft travelling at or beyond the speed of sound.  This includes damage caused by sonic and supersonic UFOs from outer space.”

As for Grammy, the reasonable explanation is, “Unsurprisingly, there is not a single insurance firm who will provide cover for drivers who can’t see.  This is never stated explicitly in insurance policy documents, but insurance companies cover their backs by saying they won’t pay out for claims resulting from damage caused by “unlicensed drivers”.

From all of us here at Paradiso Insurance, have a great Wednesday!!

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for ICE CREAM!

Come on…Who doesn’t love ice cream?!

This delectable treat is a favorite for families everywhere.   Many people are familiar with the food’s hundreds of flavors, variety of dishes, and favorite toppings, but do you know the history of ice cream?

It is said that the origins of ice cream go as far back as 68 A.D when Roman Emperor Nero ordered his army to gather snow from the surrounding mountains and combine it with fruit toppings to create a new dessert.

In late 1800′s, immigrants from Italy ‘put a cherry on top’ with the use of ice cream push carts in New York City. The only problem was that the vendors would have to give two or three paper plates out with each serving just to contain the melting goodness!  Vendors would stock up on plates before hitting the streets, but constantly seemed to be running out!  Seeing this as an opportunity, Italo Marchiony was inspired to develop a cone first made of paper, then moving on to a “waffle” to hold the tasty delicacy.

One-hundred and seven years ago TODAY on Sept 22, 1903, his application for a patent for his new mold was filed, and US Patent No 746971 was issued to him Dec 15, 1903.

Craving a cone yet?  We sure are!

Italo Marchiony, we thank you for such a wonderful invention. Your cones have brought smiles to the faces of children & adults everywhere!

Wacky Wednesday: Sting Operation

Here’s the wacky story of the week:

A North Carolina policeman found himself in quite a sticky situation when a swarm of angry bees attacked his cruiser on August 18. Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Jenkins was called to the scene when insects had escaped from a crashed lorry (bee carrying truck) on a North Carolina highway early morning last week. When Deputy Jenkins arrived at the scene, he was shocked to find that 60 boxfulls of honeybee cargo were set loose. After seeing the swarming mess, the Deputy jumped into his patrol car to radio the SWAT for backup. Jenkins was trapped in his car for three hours after being surrounded by 50,000 bees. Experienced bee keepers were called to the scene to calm the bees and get them off the car before getting Jenkins to safety.

For his next call, deputy Jenkins is taking precautions to ‘bee’ more prepared for the situation.

Wacky Wednesday: Two Albino Moose

“These animals were photographed just north of the Wisconsin border on a highway near Marenisco , MI.

Once in awhile, there is an opportunity to take in a piece of nature that you may never see.
In these days of unrest and turmoil it is great to see that God still produces some wondrous beauty.”
